100 Women of Oxford Exhibition Launch Party

Philippa James is a whirlwind of laughter, blond hair and boundless creativity. After admiring each other from afar (oo-er) we finally met at the Edge Urban Design 1st Birthday Party at Oxford Modern Art, and our love story continued from there.

When she told me about her 100 Women of Oxford project, I knew I wanted to help in any way I could. This exhibition is a celebration of women across the whole of Oxford with stories to share. Some are joyful, some are tinged with grief, some involve travel across the world, and others have Oxford as part of their DNA. It was a project that took Philippa into 100 homes, to drink 100 cups of coffee, and listen to intimate stories.

Its launch deserved to be celebrated with a bang, aptly on International Women’s Day 2020. The vision is all Philippa’s, but I felt honoured to run around with cable ties and be a hand to hold through the process of bringing it together.
