The Oxford Boxing Championships

When Kevin at Science Fitness Studio first contacted me about partnering with him to launch a boxing event series, I was sure he was barking up the wrong tree. After a couple of conversations, and bonding over the fact that we both have a theatre background, I was convinced that putting on a boxing tournament is no different to creating theatre, just with a much more extensive risk assessment (!)

For a long time, Oxford has had many popular student boxing events, and Kevin wanted to bring together the talent that existed inside and outside of the student pool, and create a more elevated event that was closer to the format of a professional boxing night.

After 6 months of planning, a press conference and a weigh in, we assembled 20 talented fighters across both traditional boxing and MMA and welcomed 400 guests to the Kassam Stadium for the debut of the Oxford Boxing Championships, including the first ever Oxford vs Cambridge MMA bouts.
