Heather & Steve's Wedding
When I first met Heather, she was convinced that her wedding didn’t have a theme.
We sipped on cappuccinos, and she showed me the invite designs that she had put together. They artwork was by an artist friend, and had some of the most glorious colours and textures I could have hoped for; rich blues, greens and a flashes of pink. It became clear that this wedding needed to nod to Heather’s west African roots, while being a celebration of the uniqueness of Heather and Steve’s relationship.
The wedding was held at the One Elm in Stratford Upon Avon, a beautiful indoor/outdoor space with a central courtyard that would host the wedding breakfast and the dance floor later in the evening. The design concept that developed with Heather was to use eucalyptus, earthy tones and contrasting textures to play with bringing the outdoors in and vice versa.

In the courtyard, I used crisp white linen with oat coloured napkins, while inside we used caramel linen table runners on exposed wooden tables. The design was tied together with a flash of magenta from a single flower in a small vase on each table, plenty of greenery and handmade napkin ribbons that were used as friendship bracelets after the meal!
The whole day had a drum beat and gentle kora underscore from Moussa and Seneke, with interludes from Megumi on the trumpet. There was dancing from the moment people arrived, including during the meal! The love between the two families was expressed through music throughout the day, and into the night as two family friends took over the decks!
